Unsuccessful plea

            55021 Argyll and Sutherland Highlander only had a few days remaining in traffic when photographed at York on a desperately cold and miserable 28th December 1981 working a Dundee to Kings Cross additional service. I had travelled on this from Newcastle, the Deltic was running on one engine so timekeeping was not terrific. The last time I rode behind a Deltic under BR ownership. The Save Me plea rubbed into the dirt on the nose was unsuccessful in this case. A quick dash over the bridge secured another shot of 55021.
