WMT 2261 Castlecroft, Wolverhampton, 1987

            Saturday the 25th April 1987, looks to have been a quiet day on the Castlecroft housing estate, although outside of school turning out times, it generally always was. Sat at the terminal point with a few punters aboard, Metrobus 2261 is looking very tatty and certainly in need of a repaint. 

The bus had been new to the town’s Park Lane bus garage in April 1981 and I believe remained a Wolverhampton allocated bus until its withdrawal in 1999. 

2261 went on to see further use in the South of the country, mainly through the offices of bus dealers Ensign of Purfleet. 2261's final curtain call came in July 2001, when it was sold to breaker for scrap.
