Symbiotic Mushrooms - Sabino Canyon Nature Walk - December 27, 2017

            If I understand this correctly, the mushrooms we see on the ground,are shoots that a huge underground mushroom plant sends up to the surface to reproduce. The large underground mushroom plant is symbiotic with a certain tree and helps the tree's roots to spread and find water.

In areas where the tree is being reintroduced, it was found that the mushrooms must also be planted or the trees die.
