Mission Concepción-2 - a photo on Flickriver

This was my first significant photographic stop on my trip to the SW during February of 2024. I came through here in order to see my nephew's family who live in New Braunfels which is just north of SA. I had been to SA three times previously but had been unaware of this national historic park. I knew of the Alamo, of course, and had paid it a visit twice (with entirely different feelings about it the second time, knowing that the battle was mostly fought to retain slavery). I was unaware that it was a part of a larger system of Spanish missions. Having discovered this, I naturally sought those other members of the system out. This was my favorite mission, mostly because it is, by good measure, the best preserved, with most of it standing as it had been in 1731 when it was completed. It's the oldest unrestored stone church in the US.
