Myakka Bliss

            At the Myakka River in the Myakka Florida State Park.  Most people who visit Florida come for the beaches and rarely see any of the interior that isn't named Disney World or Universal Studios.  But the interior has its charms as well . . . and I'm not referring to naked guys sitting on fallen trees.  There is a good deal of wilderness preserved--from the Everglades in the south, to various forests, rivers and scrub country up and down the state.  And these are filled with wildlife--Alligators, crocodiles, armadillos, wild pigs, puma to name a few.  So, my advice to those who have a little time, drive inland away from the gorgeous beaches for a change of pace.

This photo was entirely spontaneous.  I was hiking a trail through the park and found myself completely alone.  It was also getting late--i.e., sunset was only moments away--so I found it doubtful that I would encounter any late starters.  I saw this downed sabal palm tree and up and decided to doff my clothes for this photo.  I took several and I really haven't had the time to parse over which photo was best, so it's likely I'll eventually upload one or tow others.
