Mount Tomah Botanic Gardens, Blue Mountains

            The Mount Tomah Botanic Gardens, now known as the Blue Mountains Botanic Garden, is located about 100 km west of Sydney, at an altitude of 1,000 metres. It is the only botanic garden in the world set within a World Heritage Area, the Greater Blue Mountains. The cooler mountain climate allows the garden to grow a wide range of cool-climate plants that can’t survive in warmer areas. The garden covers 28 hectares of landscaped grounds with walking paths, lawns, and themed garden areas.

A key feature of the garden is its collection of rare and exotic plants from the Southern Hemisphere, including species from South America, Africa, and New Zealand. There are also ancient Gondwana species, linking the garden to Australia's prehistoric plant history. Visitors can enjoy panoramic views, native bushland, and a rainforest boardwalk. The garden also includes educational displays, a visitor centre, and eco-friendly design features that support plant conservation and sustainability.
