Painted Lady (Vanessa cardui) Distelvlinder

            Painted lady in a green little village in the middle of a hot dry desert. These amazing butterflies look fragile, but they migrate just like birds. Starting from the Sahel region in Africa, they cross the Sahara desert in their trek North into Europe, breeding as they move. In warm summers they reach Northern Europe, only to slowly retreat South as the summer winds down.
