Shadows of history. April 2021

            Hodsock Priory and gardens (North Nottinghamshire) is at the centre of the 800-acre Hodsock Estate, owned by the Buchanan family since 1765. It's a Grade II Listed Building. The Tudor Gatehouse was built in the early 16th Century by Sir Gervase Clifton (1516-1688). There is 100 acres of managed woodland. The house is not open to the public, but the gardens and woods open to visitors in February - April during the Snowdrop and Bluebell season. It is also a venue for special events and weddings. Hodsock has been occupied since at least the Bronze Age. Hodsock was mentioned in the Domesday Book.
