Red Kite - a photo on Flickriver

Red Kite

            I have become fascinated with Red Kites over the last few years. These birds of prey were almost extinct in England, but since a program of reintroduction and protection in the 90s, have grown their numbers by 2000%. Certainly on this trip, it has been hard not to see Red Kites.

I realised I had not photographed one with the 100 - 400 lens, so had that in mind for this week. Conincidentally, we planned to walk at Dunstable Downs today and so I could tick both of these off.

Dunstable Downs is a fantastic National Trust managed area. There is a nice visitors centre and cafe, although we took a picnic. The walks are well signposted and interesting and it was nice to see a variety of people enjoying themselves in different ways, including walking, cycling, flying kites and paragliding.
