Fire Station

            Naturally, with my family history and my own brief firefighting career, I was pleased to find Banff fire station today as we meandered around town.

It’s quite an impressive station, with a number of vehicles to serve the town, including an ambulance.

In the garden, my eye was drawn to this wonderful little bird feeder. It brought back pleasant memories of my late grandfather, who had a 38 year career in the fire service and who also took to building bird boxes in his later years. A number of them also looked like fire stations, similar to this one.

Granddad died ten years ago. He visited Canada with Nan in the 80s, but I am not sure where they went. I know he called in on some fire stations during his trip.
