Mysterious Hallways - Cahir Castle, County Tipperary Ireland – ca. 1142

            Cahir Castle is one of the largest and best preserved castles in Ireland, and sits on a rocky island in the River Suir.  It was built in 1142 but was enlarged several times from the 15th through 17th centuries. The architectural style is Norman.

 In 1964 the castle was designated as a National Monument. It is now frequently used in films and television. It was used in the 1981 film ‘Excaliber’ and the 2007-2010 TV series ‘The Tudors’.
