Forney Museum Sep93 6 - a photo on Flickriver

I took these four photos in 1993 when the Forney Transportation Museum www.forneymuseum.org/News_MuseumHistory1.html was still located in the former Denver Tramway Powerhouse building along the Platte River. In 1998 the museum packed up the massive collection of vintage autos and trains and moved to a new location in Denver. As you can tell from the photos, this location made for quite an unusual environment for display! Wish I had gotten some pictures on the inside (where all the autos were displayed), but the lighting was bad. Th old powerhouse building became an REI store and is still there today.

In the foreground is a Gomaco-built replica trolley car that operated on weekends as the Platte River Trolley. This operation was not related to the Forney, and continued after they moved out. It's still going today: www.denvertrolley.org/
