Illinois Terminal St Louis Ca 1950 and 2003

            Last used for passenger service in 1958, the Illinois Terminal street trackage on Hadley remained in use until 2004. Along with the old IT "elevated"  (the IT route to the McKinley Bridge), these tracks were used to the single remaining customer- the St Louis Post Dispatch, located in the old IT St Louis terminal building. They took in rolls of paper via the short subway line under Tucker Blvd. that began just beyond this corner.

The top photo is an Evda dupe slide from the 1950s, and the bottom shot I took in 2003. By that time a number of the buildings on Hadley had been torn down, although the structure on the corner remained, along with the old IT catenary bridges.
