Ulls dalt la Serreta / Lurking above the hill

Dins del front del Pallars, englobat generalment en la batalla del Segre (1938), alguns dels majors combats es produiren al nord d'Isona. De fet, el major guany republicà en totes les ofensives al Segre i Pallars es produí al sector Basturs-Sant Corneli, on es reconqueriren els pobles de Basturs i St. Romà d'Abella. Per por a més avenços republicans (que no es donaren), els facciosos construiren linies de defensa a reraguarda, el punt clau de les quals era aquí.

Aquest puig a ponent de Figuerola d'Orcau controla la carretera de Tremp, i l'he trobat anomenat tant Serrat del Tato, la Serreta o Costa de la Serra. La carena fou fortificada amb diversos bunquers que encara avui en dia es poden visitar.

During the Battle of the Segre (1938) in the spanish Civil War, these hills were the rearguard of the fascist forces. In the Basturs - St. Corneli sector, a republican ofensive managed to capture a couple of villages, and the Mont of Conques hill was the scenery of bloody carnage. Just after that hill, this one, la Costa de la Serra hill was the last one before Tremp and the river Noguera Pallaresa. So it was fortified with several concrete bunkers that controled the main road in this area. But the republican ofensive ran out of steam, so these bunkers never saw combat.
