United Presbyterian Church Fire - a photo on Flickriver

            On Thursday, May 7, 2020 a fire destroyed the historic United Presbyterian Church on the corner of Santa Ana Blvd. and Bush Street. The United Presbyterian Church, located at the NW corner of Bush and Santa Ana, began construction in 1911 and was completed in 1912. Built in the Classic Revival style, the building mimicked the architecture of Greece and Rome. It was the home to the fourth church organized in Santa Ana, founded on June 22, 1876. While not confirmed, there are sources that point to the building being designed by Frederick Eley, Santa Ana’s premier architect of the time. The church is significant historically as an early focus of Santa Ana life, which operated in this building for nearly eight decades.
