Male Tachinid Fly - Phasia hemiptera

            These adults flies can be seen from April to September feeding on pollen from many different flowering plants, As with other tachinid flies the females will lay her eggs on other insects and the larvae will develop inside the insect hosts devouring it until it will eventually die, the main hosts being the Green Shied Bug and the Forest Bug. There are two generations of the flies per year with the first appearing from mid-May to mid-June the the second from mid-July to the end of September.
