Black-Headed Gull - Laurus ridibundus

            I was taking photos of a nearby cormorant when all of a sudden this Gull decided to land right next to me on the fence that I was leaning on and continue to stare at me for quite a while so I just decide to snap away and came away this portrait, who said that a bird cant smile. Breeds over a huge area of central Europe and Scandinavia. Winter adult seen here but come summer will have a dark chocolate brown head, never quite sure why its called a Black-Headed Gull when the head is brown though. For the record there is actually no bird species that exist that is called a seagull. The word seagull is an informal way of referring to any of the gull species that belong to the family 'Laridae'.
