Ficus virens var.virens - a photo on Flickriver

White Fig

Growing at Wollongbar TAFE Campus, NSW, this deciduous fig went unnamed for many years, until it was identified by Dale Dixon of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Sydney.

Striking for cauliflorous (and ramiflorous) display of figs from almost the base of trunk to the last seasons growth and the spectacular, though brief show of large white stipules that dominate the new growth for just a few days.

Native to most of tropical Australia and overseas in parts of Asia, Malesia and the SW Pacific islands.
