A Sign of the Times - a photo on Flickriver

            This photo is a sign of the times in two senses. The first is that because of lockdown my usual photographjic subjects are not available so I end up taking pictures of any old thing just to have the pleasure of using a camera. The second sense is that my subject is a bottle of hand sanitiser which we keep next to the back door. That shows how desperate I am!

The camera I used is my Leica M-E with the 50mm f2.8 Elmar. The camera has the sensor corrosion issue but it doesn't show up in photos like this. As Leica has no more replacement sensors they are offering what they describe as generous trade in allowances against a new Leica. For example pay £5400 and get a Leica M10R, £3120 for Leica Q2 or £1500 for a Leica CL with M to L adapter. At some point I will probably have to jump and make a decision so that I'm not left with a camera with a faulty sensor which would be impossible to sell. However, I love my M-E and I'm loathe to part with it. Decisions, decisions!

This photo was taken at ISO 800 and has been cropped due to the minimum focusing distance of the Elmar.
