            Those of you who have read my profile will know that although almost all of my photostream consists of landscapes and animal photos, I actually prefer pictures of people. I have just never had the confidence to tackle people pictures - until now.

 I recently took part in a natural light portrait workshop run by Gary Murison in Forres and Nairn. I absolutely loved it. It's the best thing I've done for ages. Gary is a fantastic photographer and a great teacher and I can thoroughly recommend his courses. The second day consisted of working one to one with a model (Cheryl Moir). Cheryl was brilliant to work with. Although I'm a complete beginner she never made me feel like I was wasting her time. She was enthusiastic, great company and a real trooper. The weather was very windy and bitterly cold, yet she kept going without a word of complaint. As an experienced model she was able to come up with lots of poses but was happy to go along with my suggestions when my confidence started to grow. These three images I'm putting on today represent different looks that we achieved on the day. I'll be adding more over the coming days. The main thing that the course has given me is the confidence to take this further. I enjoyed the experience and want more of it.

One of the things that Gary encourages is to be critical of your own work. I'm really pleased with the results I got but I'm very aware that I've a lot to learn. Attention to detail is something I need to work on. With most of the pictures there's an "if only I'd ..." The other thing is to get my finger out and learn how to work effectively with Photoshop.
