the power grab....

            The approach of a storm that contained straight line winds up to 112 mph in western Illinois. It knocked out power over quarter million customers, including yours truly. Crops were flattened in places,trees blown down,and significant damage to houses. A neighbor's 100 year old corn crib was blown over. Frightening stuff indeed....

The storm,called a derecho,is basically a hurricane on land.It actually can cause damage on a wider scale then a hurricane and can hold for a long time. A derecho in 2009 lasted 1000 miles....
