the mono run....(HTT) - a photo on Flickriver

            Telegraph and rail service to Bodie were always a struggle because of the distance and the extreme weather.Both came in over the mountains from the Mono Lake area,10 miles away.Outages were frequent,especially later when the town received power along the same line.It would be weeks sometimes before service would be restored....

The remnants of Bodie,once home to 10000 people,are a California State Park and are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
