Weedon depot - 2

            Remains of the internal railway system at Weedon depot - formerly known as the Royal Ordnance Depot. This was built on a 153 acre site in 1804 and contains an impressive collection of warehouses, lined up either side of the canal which was the main mode of transport of goods in and out of the depot. 

A railway branch from the nearby WCML (as it is now) was authorised by Parliament in 1885 - remains can still be seen of the many sidings laid down around the warehouses. The site closed as an ordnance depot in 1965 but the buildings still stand - many of the warehouses are now used by businesses, including 2 cafes, a large secondhand bookshop, and numerous antique stalls etc.
