The Grand Theater - Yoakum,Texas - a photo on Flickriver

            The Grand opened in 1922 and showed silent movies until talkies came along. The theater closed in the 1990s and was used as a church for many years. A local couple had a dream of bringing the theater back to life and showing movies again. In November of 2015 they bought the building from the church. With the help of a $150,000 loan from the Yoakum Economic Developent Corporation they refurbished the old theater including the 1940s-1950s era neon sign, which is working again. In November of 2016 the Grand Theater reopened and is now showing first run movies. Yoakum,Texas. 5.25.2013.
