Cross Road Tavern - Cat Spring,Texas

            Cat Spring is an unincorporated community in Austin County. It dates to 1834 and was settled by Germans from Westphalia and Oldenburg. The son of the town's founder had a run-in with a large wild cat near a spring....hence the name. The Cross Road opened in 1952 as a combo gas station/store/bar/cafe arrangement and is still open daily 8 a.m-8 p.m. They are famous for their Friday night "all you can eat" fish fry.
