Trowupburn pigsty, Northumberland - a photo on Flickriver

            A tiny sketch of a pigsty at a farm near the top of the Cheviot Hills in Northumberland. It used to have a low wall across the front, indicated with a dotted line. This was drawn very quickly as part of some fieldwork undertaken during a project on farmsteads. This sketch was later worked up as a 'fair copy' and included on the drawn record of the farmstead. As the smallest member of the team I was often the one who had to squeeze into these little buildings to measure them. Although it had not housed pigs for a long time I soon found out that it had been used as a dog kennel which hadn't been cleaned out very well.
