The Roman Column, York - a photo on Flickriver

            Excavated from beneath York Minster in 1979-80 and put up outside the south transept. It is likely to have been part of the headquarters building of the Roman fortress. Parts of a second fallen column can be seen in situ in the Minster. A quick pencil sketch.
