The 2019 annual general meeting of the Society of Architectural Illustration took place on Saturday, 27th April. About twenty of us met in the upstairs room of the Phoenix Arms, a short distance from Westminster Cathedral. We had a new constitution to discuss and vote on, plus an important update of the Society website. As I sketched I recalled that various other groups in the past, including the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, had met in private rooms in pubs. We had some lively discussions, good food and, at the end, had look at each other's drawings, and had some beer before everyone headed off back to all points of the compass. My journey back to York was one of the longest, though another member was headed back to Newport in south Wales.
