Blenheim Palace *

            As we approach winter, the hours of daylight have significantly reduced as have the temperatures and amounts of sunshine in the Northern Hemisphere.  For many people it is a depressing time of year so thought I would post a photograph from a very sunny day back in the summer - possibly one of the hottest days of the year!

The location is Blenheim Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to the 12th Duke of Marlborough. It is the only non - royal Palace in Britain to be designated as a Palace. It was built between 1705 and 1722 and was originally intended to be a reward to John Churchill, 1st Duke of Marlborough for his military victory against the French and Bavarians in the War of Spanish Succession.  This culminated in the Battle of Blenheim in 1704 which gave its name to the Palace.
