Half Dome & Ahwahnee Meadow - a photo on Flickriver

            We got some great weather while up in Yosemite last week.  A nice mix from total blue sky to partly cloudy to ominous, threatening, Sauron-is-on-the-move storm clouds.  Perfect for catching the park's remarkably varied terrain in all kinds of different light.  Here's Ahwahnee Meadow in early afternoon, with enough side and top light to bring out some contrast in the granite walls of the valley and the puffy white clouds, and to begin to cast some color onto the face of Half Dome.

5-shot HDR image made from JPEG files taken hand-held with an Olympus OM-D E-M5 camera and M.Zuiko 12-50mm lens, exposure bracketed at nine frames per second, 12mm focal length (24mm FF equivalent), ISO 200, 1/100-sec, f/13, with a Hoya circular polarizing filter.  Merged and tonemapped in Photomatix Pro 4.2. Went for a bit more of a natural, rather than surreal, HDR look here.  A little sun flare in the shot, but I felt like that added to the image.  It was definitely a bright, bright, sunshiny day.
