Mount Hood Against the Blue - a photo on Flickriver

            The summit of Mount Hood, at 11,249 ft (3,429 m), the tallest mountain in the US state of Oregon, and fourth tallest in the Cascade Range.  As seen on a beautiful day in mid-summer, from the shores of Trillium Lake, 7.5 miles (12.1 km) to the south.  Clearly visible in this shot are a couple of chairlifts at Timberline Lodge ski area, which offers year-round lift-accessed alpine skiing (the only place in North America where this can be done) on Palmer glacier, one of 12 active named glaciers on this remarkable (and potentialy active) stratovolcano.
