Bye bye Borsalino... - a photo on Flickriver

Non c'è uomo che conta che non abbia indossato un Borsalino, nome diventato negli anni sinonimo di cappello, proprio come lo sono la bombetta, il turbante o il basco. Del resto, basta pensare a Gianni Agnelli, Warren Beatty, Charlie Chaplin, Harry Truman, Giuseppe Verdi e Ernest Hemingway per farsi un'idea del suo successo. O a Giulio Andreotti e Francesco Cossiga. A Fred Astaire e Umberto Eco. Fino a gangster del calibro di Al Capone.
Il successo del cappello di Alessandria, che quest'anno ha compiuto 161 anni, si deve tutto a Giuseppe Borsalino, 'u siur Pipen' che il 4 aprile 1857 mette su in via Schiavina, ad Alessandria, un piccolo laboratorio specializzato nella produzione di cappelli in feltro.
Purtroppo l'azienda, dopo tanto successo e vicissitudini ha dichiarato il fallimento: è la fine di un mito!:(((
