Hydrangea macrophylla 'Penny Mac' 6/2022 Bigleaf E1- (McHenry, 1975) Bigleaf Hydrangea, Mature plant size: 5-6ft., Mophead Blue or pink, USDA Hardiness Zone 5, Michigan Bloom Month 6, In Garden Bed E1 for 3.8 YEARS (Almost). Planted in 2018.

Hydrangea macrophylla 'Penny Mac' is from the garden of Penny McHenry, Atlanta, Georgia (founded the American Hydrangea Society in 1994). She received the original (potted, florist type) hydrangea as a gift and later planted it in her garden. Penny Mac was selected in 2012 by LSU College of Agriculture as Louisiana Super Plant. This remontant Hydrangea has large Mopheads of pink or blue beginning in late spring and continues to bloom on new growth into summer and fall. Because of its re-blooming trait, it was used as a seed parent of 'Mini Penny', Endless Summer® Twist-n-Shout 'PIIHM-I', and 'Show Stopper'.
