Smith Rock & Mt. Washington - a photo on Flickriver

            An outcropping at Smith Rock State Park with a snow covered Mt. Washington on the horizon.  Mt. Washington is at an elevation of 7,795 feet.  This small outcropping is probably 250 feet tall.  The formations are from the Pleistocene or Ice Age.  The area is very green this year due to the winter snowfall and the cool wet spring.  
I found out that this is rattlesnake habitat after leaving the area.  Gives one second thoughts about leaving the trails and going into the "weeds" for a better composition.  I'm sure I will continue to do this, but I'll keep an eye out for unwanted photo bombers.
