Natural Standing Stone and Squiggly Tree Shadow

            The Paiute Indians called this area Mukuntuweap which means straight canyon. In 1909, President Taft named the the area Mukuntuweap National Monument. The name was changed to Zion by Woodrow Wilson in 1918 at the urging on the Mormons who had settled here. There are eco-friendly buses to take visitors up the main valley. This is the scene at one of the stops. The   sunlit stone spire in the center reminded us of standing stones we saw in the UK, but this one is natural and huge. Compare it with the people by the picturesque tree that is throwing the squiggly shadow.
