Saab's marriage of a Ford (Germany) V4 and the existing body style carried over from the 95 two stroke.

At first intended to be an interim model until the arrival of the Saab 99, but sales remained strong throughout the 1970's. With an output of 65bhp and a top speed near 90mph and front disc brakes, rear drum and superb handleing despite a column change gear shift. Few changes through the production run, with tproduction of he later cars moved to Finland. Last officially catalogued in the UK at the end of 1976
