Nature's Paint Palette - a photo on Flickriver

            Although it is winter where I live, it was a remarkably mild day, with sunny blue skies, the other day, so I decided to take advantage of the unseasonably good weather and go for a walk. Whilst strolling through the streets, I came across these Painted Native Peas which were so eye catching with their vibrant orange, pink and yellow petals.

Painted Chorizema or Needle Leaved Chorizema, known commonly as the Painted Native Pea, is a native shrub from Western Australia growing west of a line from Geraldton on the west coast to Esperance on the south coast. With such a broad habitat which includes outcrops, undulating plains, ridges, coastal dunes and sometimes swampy areas, it is found in many places.  It is very popular as a garden plant because if its brightly coloured flowers.
