Paddington and Scout at the Seaside 2.

            PADDY:  "Have you enjoyed your first trip to the seaside Scout?"

SCOUT:  "Oh yes Paddy!  This has been the most exciting day EVER!"

PADDY:  "I'm glad you have had a fun time, Scout."

SCOUT:  "How could I fail to Paddy?  Playing hide-and-seek amongst the cliffs, running along the sand, seeing starfish and collecting shells makes for a lovely day!  There is just one thing that disappoints me Paddy."

PADDY:  "Goodness Scout, what is it?"

SCOUT:  "Well, we are standing on the beach, aren't we Paddy?"

PADDY:  "Yes Scout."

SCOUT:  "And the beach is sand, isn't it Paddy?"

PADDY:  "Yes Scout."  *Looks ponderously at Scout.*

SCOUT:  "Then where are the sandwiches?  If we are on sand, surely there must be sandwiches growing somewhere.  Where are they?  I haven't seen one wild sandwich plant growing anywhere!  I have an attack of the grumbly tummies coming on, and a wild sandwich would be just perfect to help cure it!"

PADDY:  *Sighs and shakes his head as he stares at Scout.*  "Don't worry Scout, I know something that will cure your grumbly tummy even better than a wild sandwich."

SCOUT:  "Oh Paddy!"  *Gasps and puts paw to mouth.*  "What is it?" 

PADDY:  "Some delicious hot chips from the Half Moon Kiosk!  No trip to the seaside is complete without some hot chips!"

SCOUT:  "Hot chips Paddy!  Hoorah!  Grumbly tummy Paddy!  Grumbly tummy!"  *Rubs tummy vigorously.*  

Paddy, Scout and I spent a delightful Saturday sunset with the Famous Flickr Five+ Group at Half Moon Bay in Black Rock where we ate delicious fish and hot chips from the Cerberus Beach House before wandering along the beach to the sandstone pillars for sunset.

My Paddington Bear came to live with me in London when I was two years old (many, many years ago).  He was hand made by my Great Aunt and he has a chocolate coloured felt hat, the brim of which had to be pinned up by a safety pin to stop it getting in his eyes.  The collar of his mackintosh is made of the same felt.  He wears wellington boots made from the same red leather used to make the toggles on his mackintosh.  

He has travelled with me across the world and he and I have had many adventures together over the years.  He is a very precious member of my small family.

Scout was a gift to Paddy from my friend.  He is a Fair Trade Bear hand knitted in Africa.  His name comes from the shop my friend found him in: Scout House.  He tells me that life was very different where he came from, and Paddy is helping introduce him to many new experiences.  Scout catches on quickly, and has proven to be a cheeky, but very lovable member of our closely knit family.
