Tom Burke Photo Switcher at Fortune Rags Yard Houston TX April 7 2018

            An apparently abandoned switcher sits in the deserted yard of Fortune Rags in Houston.  Looking at Google Satellite Views it appears that in the recent past the yard was busy with truck to train transload activity.  Now the building is for sale and the area empty.

On the other side of this warehouse is an odd assortment of railroad equipment including a helium car, passenger cars, and more on a spur.  Does anyone know the story behind them?  You can see the equipment from Google Satellite view.

The location is at Navigation Blvd and Engelke Street.

A long stretch of street running on Commerce Street is needed to access it.  The tracks are still in place in the middle of the street which shows evidence of a second track at one time and spurs.  It is now being gentrified.
