Wolverhampton Corporation Electricity Department, advert showing the area of supply, c1932

            From the c1932 Official Guide to the borough an advert for the municipal electricity undertaking. It was slightly unusual in that it's area of supply included large areas of surrounding counties well outside the Borough boundary as seen on the map. The Borough's undertaking also by this date formed part of the West Midlands Joint Committee, an undertaking set up under the 1926 Act to help rationalise generating and supply across different undertakings and the Joint Committee was, by this date, about to open their 'super grid' station at Buildwas/Ironbridge.

Wolverhampton was one borough that had not acquired the local gas undertaking - it was still in private hands until nationalisation. This map also re-appears in an immediate nationalisation advert in 1948 when the undertaking formed part of the new Midlands Electricity Board.
