Clematis villosa DC. subsp. villosa - a photo on Flickriver

            Ikuwi, shumwe (Malila), makalichoma (Hehe), shock-headed Peter.

The plant grows from a rhizome and may form a bush up to 1.5 m tall with hairy stems. Leaves are opposite, up to 12 cm long, softly hairy and very variable in shape. The drooping flowers are scented and up to 7 cm across. The plant photographed was growing in grassland at the roadside in Umalila.
