66 194 at Upperby Junction. Third time lucky !

            The third and final attempt to clear Upperby former carriage depot yard of stored wagons was successful today. After all out failure on the 6th September 2021 when it was found Network Rail had secured the DB yard out of use. Then the second attempt on 18th January saw 31 VGA's vans recovered but in the process having to leave behind a lone FAA wagon as it had been deregistered on TOPS.
Here 66 194 stands with FAA 609048 on the Up Through Goods line at Upperby Junction with 6Z19 the 09.23 Upperby Yard to Kingmoor Yard just prior to running round.
The FAA along with the vans were all surplus to the "Government Stores/MOD" pool which has seen a large contraction in traffic over the last 10 years. Given current events in Eastern Europe these wagons might suddenly find themselves in demand again.
