A60 stock set 5064 at Shoreditch. 1991.

            The one time northern terminus of the LT 'East London Line' was the 1876 built Shoreditch station seen here with A60 stock set 5064 waiting with a service to New Cross. The station had once been on a through route into London Liverpool Street but the connection between this station and the BR mainline at Bishopsgate Junction a matter of a few hundred yards had been closed on 18/4/1966 leaving the once twin track station as a single track terminus until it too closed in June 2006. After that East London line services ceased to be part of the tube network and became part of the new 'London Overground' line which bypassed this station on a new flyover linking to the former Broad Street line of the North London Railway. In the background of this image at a higher level stands the then derelict Spitalfields Goods Depot which had shut in November 1967.
