Domestic Swan Goose 2 - a photo on Flickriver

            The swan goose or Chinese goose (Anser cygnoides) is a large goose with a natural breeding range in Mongolia, northern China, and southeastern Russia. It is migratory and winters mainly in central and eastern China. The species has been domesticated (Anser cygnoides domesticus), and introduced and feral populations occur elsewhere.
The Anser cygnoides is large for its genus, 81–94 cm long and weighing 2.8–3.5 kg. 
The domestic forms (Anser cygnoides domesticus) are larger and heavier than the ancestral swan goose, with a more upright stance. It is the preferred goose for homeowners. There are two varieties  (brown/grey and white).
Picture is taken in the Storks and Otters Reintroduction Centre in Hunawihr, Alsace. 

De zwaangans (Anser cygnoides) is de wilde stamvader van de knobbelgans, ook Chinese zwaangans genoemd (Anser cygnoides domesticus), een gedomesticeerd ras uit China. In het wild leeft de soort in Mongolië, noordelijk China en zuidoost Rusland. 
’s-Winters in centraal en oost China.
De wilde zwaangans is met een lengte van 81-94 cm en gewicht van 2,8 à 3,5 kg groot en zwaar. De tamme vorm, de knobbelgans, is zelfs nog iets groter en loopt meer rechtop. Er zijn twee variëteiten, een witte en bruingrijze vorm.
Obelix zou zeggen: "Gekke ooievaar die gans", de foto is namelijk genomen in het ooievaarspark "Centre de reintroduction cigognes & loutres" in Hunawihr, Elzas.
