SURFACED UP - Open-air exhibit №1 - a photo on Flickriver

            ► █░▓    BEING SURROUNDED FROM ALL SIDES by water — rivers, canals, ponds etc — the Dutch have adopted a habit of dutching = ditching their favourite transportation means into the canals (when nobody is watching and they don't need it any more). So their archetypes unite: fiets + water. However, the part of the nation that considers all the riverbeds (just like everything else) need to be kept tidy, puts regular effort to dig the dumped artefacts from the bottom and bring them back to the surface. So discarded bikes re-appear. But are not re-claimed. 

Behind every successful Dutchman there is a discarded bike. Or two. 

In this case please note that the wheels retained perfectly maintained and properly inflated tires. Ready for use and challenging the elements in time. Perhaps only the jockey wheel needs some minor adjustments.

I made the longest break in publishing images and following your uploads here since years. Hope this less enthusiastic period is over. For four and half months I have been studying new software and made first use of it. It is not much, but is something I had been postponing for years. A small victory. Photography was not completely ignored, but I never got to edit what I took. Many boats taken just before sunset still wait to be denoised! Plus some interesting people.

In the morning of July 14th I drove to Sleeuwijk, the village across the river, after a long, long time. Had a good hour available to walk around. Started hike from a few kilometres away and searched for pathways through the village in order to avoid traffic. Without internet, I still made it! But when I reached the river shore at the Yacht and ferry harbor, the first hour had almost passed. Still I decided to press on and found a pathway among the blackberries shrubbery along the shore line. It was as a gift from above. Beautiful small beaches, lots of ripe berries, mighty ships sailing by, clean water, lazy peaceful cattle, perfect weather with some nice lighting... For the first time in more than three decades that I live here I hiked along this patch of shore line and almost reached the big bridge. Found the way back through the woods and reached the starting point just short of 2,5 hours of hiking, berry picking and photographing. What a day! And a good night's sleep after it. 

Lumix G90 / 12-35mm f2.8 / sooc jpeg edited in Photos 10.0, exported as 16-bit tiff so that you can enjoy the original Panasonic's jpeg ;) Well I could have exported it to *.heic format, it would have taken 25 less space of the drive and I don't see any difference, but my screen is just a non-calibrated 16" and my eyes are aging... -You are welcome!
