Is this Heaven?

            Some days you are blessed enough to realize with utmost certainty that you have landed in exactly the right place on the planet, that you are moving through a landscape you were born to know and love, that things are unfolding around you just as they should.  This turned out to be one of those days - out train chasing with my son.   

Naturally, I shot the locomotives down in the shadows from this old wooden bridge near Sewal.   But then, in turning, I caught the better view, bathed in low sun glow - and that's when that wonderful feeling kicked in, making my heart seize up for a moment.   

A gravel road rolls off to the west, lined with lush green corn coming up in orderly rows.  A pole line carries power to a shady farmstead.  Cattle graze in the field out back.  And there, on the bridge with me, is that kid, who I love beyond measure, happily intent on filming the going away of the grain train that rumbles under our feet.  How glad I am that I raised him Railfan!  : )  

Yeah, of course I know that this is Iowa . . . but for a moment there, it sure felt like Heaven to me.  : )
