Il castello dell'Isola Polvese - The castle on Polvese Island

            L’Isola Polvese è la più estesa delle tre isole all’interno del Lago Trasimeno (Umbria). 
Il castello che sorge su di essa risale al XV secolo; il suo lato maggiore misura 85 m di lunghezza ed un tempo era lambito dall’acqua. 
L’interno sembra mancare degli edifici destinati alla vita quotidiana: si può quindi ipotizzare che non sia mai stato una residenza signorile, ma piuttosto un luogo di rifugio e difesa degli abitanti contro i nemici provenienti dal Lago.

The Polvese Island is the largest of the three islands in the Lake Trasimeno (Umbria region, Italy). 
The castle that sits on it dates from the fifteenth century; its longer side is 85 m long and at that time they reached the water. 
The interior seems to be missing the buildings destined to everyday life: it can therefore be assumed that it was never a mansion, but rather a place of refuge and protection of the inhabitants against enemies coming from the lake.
