La Valle Cervo e' una delle vallate Biellesi; in questa valle ci sono cave di sienite, una pietra molto dura, ababstanza simile al granito, che veniva lavorata dai "pica pere"(scalpellini). La valle aveva la piu' importante scuola per costruttori della provincia. La vita era durissima nei villaggi abbarbicati lungo i fianchi delle montagne. Gli uomini partivano per l'estero, ed hanno costruito in tutto il mondo strade, dige, ponti, grattacieli. Le donne rimanevano a casa, ad allevare i figli la cui eta' era scandita dal ritorno a casa dei mariti. Andavano a raccogliere l'erba per la mucca che di solito ogni famiglia possedeva, tra le pietraie, indossando gli scapin, scarpe fatte cucendo ritagli di stoffa e trapuntandoli con la canapa, e bagnavano le suole per non scivolare sui ripidi pendii. Nell'800 il senatore Rosazza per evitare che la valle si spopolasse, fece costruire decine di mulattiere e pedonali, che ancora oggi collegano in perfetto stato tutti i comuni e le frazioncine. Qusta della foto ne e' un esmpio: perfetta dopo 200 anni!

The Valle Cervo is a one of the valley around Biella; to live there was very hard; there was a very important school, and the one that studied there left the valley and went around the world to build up bridges, dums, highways. The women remain at home with the children, and were used to collect the grass for their cow using a particular kind of shoes hand made. The shoes were made with fabrics, wet before the use, so they avoid to slip in the steep small fields along the slopes of the mountains. In 1800 a rich men, Senatore Rosazza, built up in this valley roads, houses, walls, to give work to the men and to keep them there. This wall is almost 200 years old, and is still perfect.
