Lanzarote - Im Timanfaya - Montanas del Fuego - 050K/416

            Südlich des Famara-Massivs schließt sich die Sandwüste von El Jable an, die das Famara-Massiv von den so genannten Feuerbergen (Montañas del Fuego) des Timanfaya-Nationalparks trennt. Im Timanfaya-Gebiet ereigneten sich zuletzt von 1730 bis 1736 und 1824 starke Vulkanausbrüche, die große Teile des fruchtbarsten Ackerlandes und mehrere Dörfer und Gehöfte mit zusammen etwa 420 Häusern unter sich begruben. Der Rest der Insel ist durch eine Hügellandschaft mit markant aufragenden Vulkankegeln geprägt.
