Lancia Aurelia B20 Coupe (Series IV - 1955)

            The Lancia Aurelia was a sporty luxury car produced from 1950 to 1958 in six series. The range comprised variously of Berlinas (saloons), Coupes, Cabriolets and Spiders. Closed cars were styled by Felice Mario Boano, then at Ghia and bodies were built at Pininfarina. Open cars were designed and built by Pininfarina.

The Aurelia was the first car to use a production Vee-six engine. Initially of 1.75 litres capacity, producing 56 hp (42 kW). The engine was progressively enlarged over time at the various series updates.

The Lancia is also known for the beauty of the bodywork. The Aurelia was a favourite of the Italian film industry featuring in many period productions. The car, though produced in low volumes remained very popular as a luxury conveyance.

The Aurelia also had a distinguished racing career. In the 1951 Mille Miglia the 2-litre Aurelia, driven by Giovanni Bracco and Umberto Maglioli, finished 2nd beaten only by the Ferrari America. The same year it took first in class and 12th overall at LeMans. Modified Aurelias took the first three places on 1952's Targa Florio with Felice Bonetto as the winner and another win on Lièges-Rome-Lièges of 1953.
